The Critical Ring

Repeated lunar forms gather into a circular structure. At first, the ring appears stable and complete; with sustained looking, differences begin to emerge. Repetition promises order, while time introduces variation. The work is built around this critical point—where the eye stops receiving a pattern passively and begins to compare, remember, and reconstruct it. The moon becomes both an astronomical body and a unit of visual thought. The ring is therefore not only an arrangement of images, but a structure in which perception becomes aware of its own activity.

反復された月の像が円環を形成します。最初は安定した一つの輪として見えますが、見続けるうちに差異が現れます。反復は秩序を生み、時間は変化を持ち込みます。眼がパターンを受動的に受け取ることをやめ、比較し、記憶し、再構成し始める臨界点が、この作品の構造です。月は天体であると同時に、視覚的思考の単位となります。円環は像の配列ではなく、知覚が自らの働きに気づくための場です。
