Rising Sun

The sun is presented not as a scenic motif, but as a threshold of perception. Its light reaches the viewer only after passing through distance and atmosphere, yet it is experienced as an immediate presence. The work isolates that encounter: a physical event becomes an inner image through the act of seeing. Printed directly onto the reverse of UV-protective acrylic, the image and its transparent support form a single field of light. A work from this edition is held in the collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).

太陽を風景的なモチーフとしてではなく、知覚が生まれる境界として捉えた作品です。太陽の光は距離と大気を通過して私たちに届きますが、見る者には直接的な存在として立ち現れます。物理現象である光が、「視る」という行為を通して内的な像へ変わる、その瞬間を作品化しています。UVカットアクリルの裏面へ直接印刷することで、像と透明な素材は一つの光の場を形成します。同エディションの作品はLACMAに収蔵されています。
