Interference of Phases

Different phases occupy the same visual field and begin to interfere with one another. The resulting image is no longer a simple sequence of before and after. It resembles the way memory works: separate moments overlap, alter one another, and form a present that has never existed as a single instant. The moon becomes a site where physical time and mental time meet. The work asks how much of what we see belongs to the visible world, and how much is assembled within the observer.

異なる月の位相が同じ視覚の場を占め、互いに干渉し始めます。そこに現れる像は、単純な「前」と「後」の連続ではありません。離れた瞬間が重なり、互いを変化させ、実際には一度も存在しなかった現在を形づくる、記憶の働きに似ています。月は物理的時間と心理的時間が交差する場所となります。見えているもののどこまでが外界に属し、どこからが見る者の内部で構成されるのかを問う作品です。
